Merrimack County is located in south-central New Hampshire. Concord, the state capital, is also its county seat. Merrimack County has a population of about 150,000 people, with about 35,000 families. The county was organized in the early 19th century, after taking towns from the adjacent counties of Hillsborough and Rockingham. It was named for the Merrimack River, which runs through the middle of the county. According to the 2010 census, the median income for the county was around $50,000 and only 6% of persons were living under the poverty line!
